Welcome to the Mellor Parish Council Website
Sitting just 3.5 miles north-west of the town of Blackburn, and measuring a full 4 miles by approx. 1.5 miles, Mellor is a delightful village set in the rural backdrop of the Ribble Valley and a mile or so shy from the River Ribble. With a growing population of 1490 at the last census, it is a thriving community with a primary school, 2 churches, a village hall, a library, a doctors surgery, a bus service and a small number of local shops and pubs.
The parish has many groups and organisations catering for all ages. From PreSchool facilities, a Mother and Toddler group, Rainbows, Brownies and Guides for the girls, Cubs and Scouts for the boys, a Youth Club, a Youth Fellowship and teenage pool club for the youngsters to indoor bowling, badminton, gardening, luncheon clubs, Mothers Union, Mens Group and Ladies Fellowship, there is something going on for everyone.
Mellor has very close links with the village of Mellor Brook, through which the eponymous stream flows, although only part of the village is contained within our parish. We also have good links with neighbouring Ribble Valley parishes, namely Balderstone, Clayton-Le-Dale, Osbaldeston and Ramsgreave; and to our immediate north west is Samlesbury in South Ribble.
